On stage during the main keynote, Shopify Director of Product Arpan Podduturi made several key announcements regarding Shopify POS, the physical store system.
Actually, a brand new Shopify POS is schedule for Fall 2019!
- a Smart Grid on the homepage
- a Global Search throughout all data
- a new Retail Staff management module
- a "buy online, pickup in store" feature
The Staff management module is going to be a major upgrade for Shopify POS, allowing mid-market and big corporations to fully implement their security rules regarding staffs.
Also, available now (but only in the US for the moment): un boitier "Tap & Chip".
This device will allow credit card and contactless payments anywhere in-store, thus providing an Apple-like experience.
And it comes with a nice personalized touch: a company logo can be engraved on the back of the device. Cool!
