Shopify has just announced that the new version of Shopify POS, already available on iOS since 2020, is now available on all Android devices since the beginning of May!
The new version of Shopify POS offers a completely renewed UX and design, including a customizable home page allowing direct and rapid access to the most useful content and information for store sales staffs.
- Shopify POS Lite is the default version, and is included in all Shopify plans,
- Shopify POS Pro offers additional features, and comes with a $89 monthly fee per location for Basic Shopify, Shopify, and Advanced Shopify plans, and for no additional cost for Shopify Plus plans.
It is therefore now possible to indifferently roll out Shopify POS on Android or iOS tablets (or smartphones). It is also possible to mix Lite and Pro versions depending on the type of physical points of sale: for example using the Lite version for small stores and pop-up stores, and the Pro version for flagship stores.
With the latest version of Shopify POS coming to Android, it's a safe bet to say that Shopify POS success on the retail software market is going to rapidly accelerate!
